  • Email Address: Used for account login, authentication, and to send password reset emails when requested.
  • Aggregated Site Usage Data: page views, referrers, and approximate location from IP address — collected via Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site.

We do not collect any personal information beyond what is listed above.

How We Use Your Information

Your personal information is used exclusively for:

  • Providing and maintaining our service functionality
  • Authenticating your login and managing your account
  • Displaying your name to other users within groups you join
  • Sending password reset emails when you request them
  • Communicating important updates about our service or privacy policy

We do not use your User Content to train machine learning or AI models, and we do not provide your content to third parties for that purpose.

We do not use your data for marketing or advertising. Beyond the core service functionality described above, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage.

Data Storage and Security

We store your data securely. All communication with our servers is encrypted in transit.

Your password is hashed and cannot be retrieved, even by us. If you lose access, you'll need to reset it.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

To operate Second Gear, we rely on a small number of trusted service providers ("subprocessors") who process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards. We only engage subprocessors for the core operation of the service:

  • Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) — hosting your account, content, and databases.
  • Amazon SES (AWS) — sending transactional emails such as password reset links and account notifications.
  • Google LLC — Google Analytics for aggregated site usage metrics (page views, referrers, approximate location from IP).

Beyond these subprocessors, your data is only visible to:

  • You — your account and everything you create.
  • Other members of groups or projects you join, limited to what Second Gear displays to them (for example, your name and the group todos you share).

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: You can request to know what personal data we have about you.
  • Correction: You can update or correct your name and email address through your account settings or by contacting us.
  • Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time. Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.

Second Gear uses two kinds of cookies:
